Marie-Jo Lafontaine beschwört in ihren suggestiven Bildern die physischen und psychischen Bedingungen menschlicher Existenz, archetypische Instinkte und mythische Urmotive. Ihre primären Ausdrucksmittel sind Videofilme und Fotografien: Ihre Filme spielt sie vorwiegend synchron auf mehreren Monitoren ab, die sie wiederum in einen - oft monumentalen, zum Teil begehbaren - architektonischen Aufbau integriert; ihre geradezu unnahbar perfekten Fotografien tendieren durch ihre außergewöhnliche Form der Präsentation zum Klassischen, zum Weihevollen und Erhabenen. In einem weiteren Schritt setzt sie diese Arbeiten und auch andere Objekte multimedial ein, um Gesamtkunstwerke zu inszenieren, die raumfüllend auf alle Sinne einwirken. Die Publikation stellt - neben der schon bekannten Videoskulptur »Jeder Engel ist schrecklich« - fünf neue Werkeinheiten der belgischen Künstlerin vor, in denen sie die übergreifenden Themen Jugend, Jugendkultur, Identität, Stadt und den Erlebnisraum von großen Metropolen behandelt. Zur Künstlerin: Marie-Jo Lafontaine *1950 in Antwerpen. 1975-1979 Studium an der Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts Visuels »La Cambre«, Brüssel. 1987 Teilnehmerin der documenta 8 in Kassel mit der aufsehenerregenden Videoskulptur »Les larmes d'acier«. Zahlreiche Preise und Auszeichnungen. 1998/99 Kulturbotschafterin von Flandern. Lebt und arbeitet in Brüssel. a full size aussie and a mini american were playing tug with it... it is still here with no rips etc. very sturdy. the squeeker is annoying but i put that toy up before bed.

Dogs love it, but it lasted 10 minutes

Five stars for the dogs both loving this thing. I have a Catahoula/pitbull and a Great Pyrenees/Red Heeler. They absolutely loved this toy but it only lasted about ten minutes before it was pulled apart and losing its innards. They didn’t really care - they each took half and proceeded to tear it to shreds with great joy. Two stars for durability, but since they’re big dogs who are happiest when chewing on things I figure the toy deserves to be rounded up from a three to a four. Small dogs probably would still love it without the strength to yank it apart so quickly.

Dogs are obsessed with this, somehow has not been gutted yet. Long enough that they can both play with it. Neck not as stretchy as I envisioned but it’s fine.
