Immerse yourself in rare and unpublished studio and master tape photography, along with in-depth liner notes compiled in a 64-page booklet, in this must-have for any fan or industry expert. This booklet accompanies the BACHMAN CUMMINGS: The Collection CD and LP boxsets.
Liner notes for the booklet were written by Nick Kerwen with contributions by Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings.
"Today, we salute the first most globally successful Canadian songwriting partnership: Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman who blazed the trails, set the standard, and broke ground for future Canadian songwriting teams, forging a timeless legacy with their melodic masterpieces that found world favour." - Nick Kerwen
In the book Burton and Randy take you through a walk of some of their most memorable moments in The Guess Who. The songwriting team reflects on writing those first hit songs "These Eyes" and "Laughing" and how it felt when "American Woman" hit #1. Burton reflects on songwriting with Kurt Winter after Randy had left the band and how the songwriting process differed.
Bachman recalls joining forces with Fred Turner and his brothers to form Bachman-Turner Overdrive and their rise to fame with anthem hits such as "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" and "Takin' Care of Business". Cummings reflects on the journey as he embarked on a solo career after the disbandment of The Guess Who, as the first artist signed to Portrait Records.
"As Canadian Hall of Famers - as a team, we did it first. It seems pretty amazing that five decades later, "American Woman" and "These Eyes" still sound great on the radio. These songs are bigger than us." - Randy Bachman
"I think it's lovely that we mean enough to people. It's not just a cash grab; this isn't about the money. This is about the history we made." - Burton Cummings
