Inspired by descriptions of the Colossus of Rhodes, the young Fr d ric Auguste Bartholdi first envisioned building a monumental statue of a slave woman holding a lamp that would serve as a lighthouse for Ferdinand de Lesseps's proposed Suez Canal. But after he failed to win this commission, and in the chaotic wake of the Franco-Prussian War, Bartholdi set off for America, where he saw the perfect site for his statue: Bedloe's Island in New York Harbor. Before long, he was organizing the construction of a massive copper woman in a Paris workshop. Through spectacular displays of the statue's arm and torch in Philadelphia at the 1876 World's Fair, and the statue's head at the 1878 Paris Exhibition, along with other creative fundraising efforts, Bartholdi himself collected almost all of the money required to build the statue. Meanwhile, he brought luminaries including Gustave Eiffel, Victor Hugo, Ulysses S. Grant, Joseph Pulitzer, and Emma Lazarus into his scheme. Cute read
Format: Kindle
This is a shorter book about a fox shifter who is mute but has telepathy for those she establishes a close emotional bond with. She leaves a rather cold home when she turns 18 and takes a train across country, running into one of her mates on a bus. It's a fated mates book, there's instant attraction but it takes a little while to give into the feelings. It's a fairly low spice level, more like a sweet palate cleanser. It's a standalone but there will be more books set in the same town.

So much feelings!

Collette was not voiceless in the least and to say she is by far my fave FMC of all time right now it's no understatement. Best 1st read of the year ever!! I love how possessive each of her men were and OMG Lena is the best BFF and girl could ask for! I'm pretty sure I need this gorgeous book on my shelf pronto!

Good start to a series

I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read

Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
