Provisional Certificate for the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross-Awarded to Unteroffizier der Reserve Siegfried Deneke, Gruppenführer 6. Kompanie, II. Bataillon, Grenadier-Regiment 166, 82. Infanterie-Division, Heer on 9.06.1944. Certificate measures 148mm x 207mm, double folded, exhibiting storage age, signed by Burgorf 15.6.1944. included is his award certificate for 1. Stufe Nahkampfspangen dated 9.2.1944 measures 139mm x 198 mm exhibiting storage age. Date of birth: May 19th, 1908 (Dortmund/Westphalia, Germany), Date of death: March 16th, 1944 (Torkov). Promotions: August 6th, 1942: Obershütze;, March 16th, 1944: Unteroffizier d.R. The following press article from the Bremer Presse (dated 04.08.1944) describes why Deneke would be awarded the Knight’s Cross…

“On the 16.03.1944 a Bataillon fighting on the eastern front received the mission of creating a bridgehead and holding it until the Division’s Artillerie had withdrawn. However, it had to fight in order to even create such a bridgehead. Already in these initial stages Unteroffizier Deneke demonstrated exemplary bravery. He and his troops stormed ahead on the road towards the southeast and established themselves at the road junction with an MG. Deneke’s position here was of decisive importance for the occupation and holding of the bridgehead.

On the following night the enemy infiltrated into the nearest village in the bridgehead with strong forces coming in from the east. The ammunition ran out, and by the early morning hours of the next day the enemy was already in the rear of the bridgehead’s weak garrison. In this situation Unteroffizier Deneke stormed into the southeastern part of the village with his squad on his own initiative, fighting with blank weapons and hand grenades. Other parts of the Bataillon were able to take advantage of the confusion caused by this boldly led thrust, and they succeeded in throwing back the enemy.

By around 07:00 the ammunition had run out completely, and the continued holding of this position appeared to be impossible. In this critical moment Unteroffizier Deneke once again intervened in the fighting on his own initiative, fulfilling the leadership role that had been made vacant from the loss of the Kompanie commander and the Zugführers. Fighting once again with blank weapons, he and 15 men succeeded in assaulting the part of the village already occupied by the Soviets. During this operation he died a hero’s death, however his men held the newly conquered ground as a bulwark against the enemy attack until relief arrived.

Deneke’s brave deeds ensured that the Artillerie-Regiment of the Division and all of its equipment could be brought to safety.” The village referred to in this article was Shabokritsch.

His other awards Ehrenblattspange des Heeres und Waffen-SS Awarded on: June 29th, 1944, Eisernes Awarded on: October 28th, 1943 (According to other source awarded on 4-11-1943), Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse Awarded on: March 5th, 1943. Sound condition and very desirable!

Excellent Strong Bags - Quick-Tie Feature is Genius!
Scent: Unscented, Size: 21 Count (Pack of 1)
These Glad Quick-Tie trash bags have become my go-to garbage bags for the kitchen. I've been through several boxes now and they consistently perform exceptionally well. The quick-tie drawstring closure is the standout feature. Instead of fumbling with traditional bag ties or trying to tie knots that never quite work, I just pull the red drawstring tabs and the bag closes securely in seconds. It's so much faster and cleaner, especially when dealing with heavy or messy loads. The closure stays tight and doesn't come undone during transport to the outdoor bin. Strength is impressive for 30-gallon bags. I regularly fill these to capacity with kitchen waste, food scraps, packaging, and they hold up without tearing or leaking. The plastic feels thick and durable - I haven't had a single tear or puncture even when dealing with sharp edges from cans or rigid packaging. No leaks, no messes on my floor. The 30-gallon size is perfect for my standard kitchen trash can. The bags fit properly without being too loose or too tight, and there's enough material to fold over the rim for a secure fit. When it's time to change the bag, removal is effortless thanks to the quick-tie system. Value is decent - while these aren't the cheapest bags on the market, the convenience and reliability make them worth the slight premium. Not having to deal with bag failures, spills, or difficult closures saves time and hassle. The 21-count box lasts me about three weeks with daily use. I appreciate that Glad has perfected what seems like a simple product. These bags just work reliably every single time. Highly recommend for anyone tired of dealing with inferior trash bags!

Fantastic towels at a great price on subscribe and save
Package Size Name: Family, Size: 286 Count (Pack of 6)
As an oil painter, Viva are the gold standard for wiping brushes and whatever else you need a towel for while painting. I bought them for that purpose. I didn’t count on loving these paper towels for every other paper towel duty in my home. These paper towels are incredibly hardy, and perform much like a thin cloth towel. They last and last. I can rinse and reuse a towel to clean all the kitchen counters plus clean the stainless steel gas cooktop. All with one section of paper towels. I couldn’t do anything close with any other brand I’ve used. I love the select a size feature. For quick cleanups, one section is more than adequate. I’ve used one section in my swifter handle when I’m out if swifter cloths (which is always- I never buy those things), and used both sides of the towel to dust mop my wood floors. I use these to dust my home with a little spray wax, cleaned the tires on my car with no towel shredding, and scrubbed the filthy barbecue with bleach cleanser, rinsed it out, and scrubbed some more. These towels are tough yet soft, sturdy and disposable. They are soft enough to use as a napkin, and absorb like crazy. I buy mine by the case from Amazon subscribe and save every three or four months, and love saving 20% doing so.

Viva is the best and, by usage, the most economical paper towel
Package Size Name: Family, Size: 286 Count (Pack of 6)
Still basically the same Viva. I compared this version with the prior one I still had on hand. This one has a slightly woven vs felted appearance and the side against the roll is slightly rougher or textured, while the outside face is slightly smoother. The inside face looks as if it might leave lint, maybe. Half sheet size is the same and both versions absorbed one ounce of water. Both seemed equally thick, judging by the amount of see-through-ness, both dry and wet. Both seemed equally tough wet. This version clings to the roll less firmly, too. Viva is the very best AND the least expensive paper towel available based on how long it lasts. It takes weeks to go through a roll, especially if you realize a sheet can be reused to wipe up more than one small mess while you cook and you need many fewer to clean up the big messes. Use one to dry a pot and leave it by the cutting board to wipe up. If you're used to ordinary paper towels, there may be a period of adjustment, but try to take just one sheet instead of the 4 you may think you need; you can always get another. They can scrub an iron skillet or pat dry your food. They make the best handkerchief substitutes, too. One subscribe and save box lasts me about a year.
