Description
A few words first: The Fw 190A-8 was the most produced version of the Fw 190A. It was manufactured from February 1944, initially in parallel with the A-7, until the end of the war. In total, over 6,550 A-8s were built. The A-8 was produced by at least eight different manufacturers. These included Arado, AGO, Fieseler and Mimetall. During production, the A-8 incorporated improvements developed for the Tank Ta 152 fighter. The A-8 was used by both day and night fighter units. From the spring of 1944, Sturmböcke heavily armored versions of the A-8 were used as bomber destroyers. Fw 190A-8s served on all fronts during the last year of the war.
